The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE), Sikkim, is an open schooling board that aims to cater the varied academic needs of the divergent group of students up to pre-degree level including Secondary/Senior Secondary, skill and vocational education. The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE) is open schooling education boardin Sikkim,registered underact no. 14 of 2020 by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, passed on 21-09-2020, according to the Sikkim Act 2020 to promulgate and disseminate the open schooling education at state & national level.
The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE)aims to uplift and strengthenopen schooling education and create pathways to higher studies across the nation through different modes of learning. With flexible education system, combining academic and vocational programmes, the mission of BOSSE is to universalize education and establishing great equality and justice in society.
The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE) provides opportunities to interested learners to choose the following courses/ programmes through open and distance learning mode.

Salient Features of Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE)
- Digital support through SWAYAM platform, transfer of credits up to two subjects passed from other boards and employment-oriented vocational programmes
- BOSSE offers education through printed materials, audio and video programmes. The study material is made available in English and other regional languages also.
- BOSSE offers four subjects; Hindi, English, Bengali and Nepali in Secondary Level – Group A. And five subjects; Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Science, Economics and Business Studies in Secondary Level – Group B.
- BOSSE offers four subjects; Hindi, English, Bengali and Nepali in Senior Secondary Level – Group A. Seven subjects; Mathematics, Home Science, Psychology, Geography, Economics, Business Studies and Data Entry Operationsin Senior Secondary Level – Group Physics and History in Senior Secondary Level – Group Chemistry and Political Science in Senior Secondary Level – Group D. Secondary Certificate is equivalent to the Xth standard. Eligibility for taking admission to Secondary Programme is minimum 14 years of age as on 31st August for those who want to take the first exam in April-May and 28/29 February for those who want to take their first exam in October-November. The main objective of BOSSE’s Skill Education Programme is to produce employable skilled middle-level work force, to fill the gap of unemployment. It is BOSSE’s endeavour to offer a wide variety of skill based vocational courses that are relevant for placement in the Industry.
